On March 21, 2026, a defining step was taken in the evolution of our community movement. At Farndon Hall in Mount Dandenong, members formally endorsed the transition from Voices of Casey Incorporated to VOICES FOR YARRA RANGES INCORPORATED.
This change reflects more than a new name. It signals a clearer alignment with the communities of the Yarra Ranges and a renewed focus on strengthening local representation at a time when many Australians are questioning traditional party politics.
The gathering brought members and supporters together to reflect on the political landscape and the growing role of community-led movements. With a State Election on the horizon and rising dissatisfaction with major parties, there is a clear sense that new approaches to representation are needed.
The work of the Community Independents Project (CIP) was highlighted as part of this discussion. As a national initiative supporting locally driven “Voices” groups and independent campaigns, CIP connects communities, shares knowledge, and helps build capacity for grassroots participation. Its values of integrity, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness align closely with the direction of Voices for Yarra Ranges.
The event also provided an opportunity to outline next steps, including plans to deepen community engagement, support informed local advocacy, and expand participation across the electorate.
Farndon Hall, set within the landscape that defines the Yarra Ranges, was a fitting location for this moment of transition.
While the name has changed, the mission remains steady. Voices for Yarra Ranges exists to ensure that local voices are heard and reflected in the decisions that shape the region’s future.
