Independent for Casey – 2022 Federal Election

Introduction

In 2022, Claire Ferres Miles stood as an independent candidate for Casey, offering a community-driven alternative to the major parties. It was the first time this movement stepped forward in a federal election, built on conversations across towns, local groups, and everyday residents who wanted to be better represented.

Result

The result was a strong foundation, with 8.3% of the primary vote (8,307 votes). For a first campaign, it demonstrated clear support for a different kind of politics in the seat of Casey and the Yarra Ranges, one grounded in integrity, transparency, and genuine community connection.
